Driver Blog Dopeness >>> Jeremy Lowe at Formula Drift Round 3

My first driver’s blog of the season! I missed doing these things! For the rest of the season I’ll try to give a little personal insight on each round of Formula Drift.

After a rough offseason, the possibility of doing anything this year seemed pretty bleak. I ended last season with this grand scheme of changes I wanted to make for 2013, upgrades to the car, all of this offseason practice to become a better driver, a new truck, etc, etc. None of that was happening and I was thinking of just postponing my return to 2014. Then that turned into “Why am I being such a bitch? Why not just do 1 or 2 of the close to home events if I have the money at the time?” Then as luck would have it, 2 weeks before round 2 in Atlanta, some really awesome sponsors jumped on board, and we were off and running! We scrambled to get the car back together, loaded up our trusty 1984 Chevy dually, and hit the road. Then I blew it in Atlanta, but hey it’s been a while, and plus this is a Palm Beach recap, so who cares? Haha

After a disappointing first event at Road Atlanta, I was really looking forward to Palm Beach. It’s about as “home track” as it gets for us, and we had a pretty decent showing there last year, giving Rhys a good run in top 32.

Formula Dopeness >>> Finally Coming Home

It’s not very often that a photographer has the opportunity of traveling to a professional level event only 30 minutes from his hometown. Luckily for me, starting in 2011, Formula Drift added Palm Beach to their US series. With a track so close and a group of friends who also shared my love for racing, I had made the trip to PBIR many times before Formula Drift started traveling to Florida. I’ve come to know the small track like the back of my hand, watching it transform into the great facility it is today. Surrounded by Florida’s finest wildlife, Palm Beach International is certainly a unique stop on the trip that Formula Drift makes across the country.

Road Atlanta is one of the many homes of Formula Drift and one that holds significance to FD with it being one of the first venues to host the series. It’s also a widely known favorite amongst drivers and fans due to the awesome atmosphere. Spectators bring their tents, lawn chairs, grills, and come stockpiled with beer for the weekend. Can’t get much better than that! More after the jump!

Driver Blog Dopeness >>> Matt Field at Formula Drift Atlanta 2013

Once the car was loaded up on the rig and on its way out to Atlanta, we could finally relax for a day or so. It was a hard transition getting the car ready after Long Beach. We found things we wanted to change and improve, as well as fixing what we tore up. Our flight landed, we picked up the rental car, which was the worst smelling piece of junk I’ve ever gotten, and headed out to our hotel. We had some dinner and went to sleep. The next day was practice and we had a whole bunch of stuff to unload and set up.
