January 6th and 7th 2017. Opening weekend of the new drift season in the good ole Northwest. Without a doubt and kind of stereotypically, it was a cold and wet one.
I started my weekend off down at PARC for the first open drift of the year. I will say that this track definitely did not let me down and I was ecstatic to head down south again and try out some new tricks! While I was down there some of our favorite pro drivers decided to show up and party with the boys, Cameron Moore came with his S15 and Chelsea Denofa popped in to say hi and throw in a couple of laps!
The next day I made my way back north and home but decided to make a quick stop into Spirit Peaks since I still had half a battery and some room on my SD cards left. I’m sure glad I did! Some of the boys came through, including Cameron and Travis Reeder. Andrew Devine killed it in his green S13, I swear he must have run to the gas station to fill up at least twice! Through the rain and cold it was still one of the most enjoyable days I’ve had at an open in a long time! I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the rain on drift days. On the plus side everyone saves tires and the action on track never stops, but on the down side there is no cool smoke shows or the familiar aroma of rubber in the air. ):
