The list is almost endless when it comes to potential 2011 ProDrift champions. James Deane will be back to retain his crown with many drivers hot on his heels not to mention his biggest rival from last year Nigel Colfer who finished an excellent 2010 with victory in the JDM Allstars event in the UAE in December. James’ older brother Mike Deane will be out again in 2011 trying to regain his title from his younger sibling.
James’ NEXEN team mate Christy Carpenter will also be a force to reckon with in 2011 after a great display in Fermoy and the UAE JDM Allstars event. The Hankook Team will also be back with title contender Alan Sinnot in his gorgeous Hachi Roku alongside team mate Alan Lenihan in his S13.5.
Another huge boost to the championship will be Damien Mulvey’s full time return to the series. Damien, a former champion, had arrived back on the ProDrift scene at Mondello Park last year and his battle with John Paul McCarthy was simply sensational to watch. Damien is intent in taking the championship this year so will be one to watch as always.
Chris Brady will be out in his new SR-86 built by MCNsport as will Mike Fitz in another MCNsport built car in the shape of a SR engined FC RX7 after totalling his Bridgestone Sil80 at the last round in Fermoy last year. Hopefully Martin Ffrench will also be returning to the series in his Altezza (pictured below).
Other drivers worthy of mentioning have to be Brendan Stone, Damien Shortt, Dan Moorhead, Gavin Lenihan, Shane O’Sullivan, Barry Leonard, Larry Love…. jeez, like i said the list is really endless for drivers who can potentially win and upset the establishment in 2011.
