Wall Stadium has provided some shakeups in the typical qualifying order, due to an extremely competitive field of drivers.
With a brand new car and not much of a budget, Mike Essa and his GSR Autosport team have taken home the 2013 FD Championship! Congrats to everyone at GSR and Mike for a great season! Click more for more on how he did it!
Round 4 of the Formula D Pro Championship proved to be a huge shake-up in the championship points race, as Daigo Saito took home his second win of the season and knocked his closest competitor, Vaughn Gittin Jr., out in the Top 16. More on the craziness that took place after the jump!
This past weekend wraps up Round 3 of the 2013 Formula Drift series with results that were a mixed bag of exciting wins for some and an upsetting loss for others.
Road Atlanta is one of the many homes of Formula Drift and one that holds significance to FD with it being one of the first venues to host the series. It’s also a widely known favorite amongst drivers and fans due to the awesome atmosphere. Spectators bring their tents, lawn chairs, grills, and come stockpiled with beer for the weekend. Can’t get much better than that! More after the jump!
Long Beach is one of the most intimidating tracks of the Formula Drift season. Can you imagine being surrounded by walls throughout the entire course where the slightest mistake can send you careening into a concrete barrier? No thanks. Although those walls are menacing and the FD veterans are somewhat used to them, it may seem daunting to a rookie who’s running this course for the very first time. However, it didn’t seem to faze rookie Joshua Steele in his Nevrslo Motorsports S14.
The first round of the Formula Drift Pro Championship is over, and 2011 champion Dai Yoshihara has walked away with the “perfect” weekend! Not only did he qualify in 1st place in his Discount Tire/Falken Tire S13, but he has also taken the win! Read on to get a quick recap of a crazy event!
Irwindale Speedway, the House of Drift. Earlier this year we received news that Irwindale Speedway was shutting down and people began wondering what would happen with the final round of the 2012 Formula Drift Championship Series. Fortunately, the event remained on the calendar and later news confirmed that it was going to be held at Irwindale once again; and it was. This past weekend Irwindale was host to Formula Drift’s final Round 7 in 2012.
The last round of Prodrift ran last weekend. We had some big names over for this round. Dean Kearney, Darren McNamara, Fredric Aasbø and Dai Yoshihara.
Friday was a practice day but due to my day job (boo!!!!) I couldn’t make it. Saturday was amateur and semi pro day with a little pro practice thrown in for good measure. Weather wise Saturday was really good. Sunday, not so much but the rain held off for long enough to not have much impact on the event.
First off a little eye candy from the Saturday competition. This first one would be OMG blogger Mike Fitz. Due to a run of bad luck for Mike he hasn’t had the best year. We’ll have a blog from him in the coming weeks and I’ll get him to explain a little more on this.
