Road Atlanta is one of the many homes of Formula Drift and one that holds significance to FD with it being one of the first venues to host the series. It’s also a widely known favorite amongst drivers and fans due to the awesome atmosphere. Spectators bring their tents, lawn chairs, grills, and come stockpiled with beer for the weekend. Can’t get much better than that! More after the jump!
Once the car was loaded up on the rig and on its way out to Atlanta, we could finally relax for a day or so. It was a hard transition getting the car ready after Long Beach. We found things we wanted to change and improve, as well as fixing what we tore up. Our flight landed, we picked up the rental car, which was the worst smelling piece of junk I’ve ever gotten, and headed out to our hotel. We had some dinner and went to sleep. The next day was practice and we had a whole bunch of stuff to unload and set up.
Congratulations to the #1 qualifier, Fredric Aasbo!

Round 2 of the Formula Drift Pro Championship began on Thursday with 4 hours (yes, 4 HOURS) of practice, and the drivers came out swinging hard! More after the jump!

We have decided to call this season “Out For Blood.” That will be the continuing theme as I strive for the first tier on the podium. The reasoning behind this is that Alpinestars sent me my badass new neon suit, and along with that, they sent me some red gloves. At first, I was a bit confused as to why they would be red because it didn’t match anything. But then I realized. They didn’t want to send me white gloves because I would get them stained with blood. Thus, “Out For Blood” was formed.

If you didn’t already know, we here at OMGDrift have a team of 5 sponsored drivers who are competing in the 2013 Formula D season: Kyle Mohan, Odi Bakchis, Matt Field, Joon Maeng, and Alex Lee.
These guys are not only great drivers who all have different styles, but are also just plain awesome people to be around.

Read MoreThe last round of the Formula Drift tour was at Irwindale Speedway. This event always lives up to its expectations. And this time was no different. Carnage, close calls, and wall rides are the norm at this track. Being the last event of the year, everyone knows it is all or nothing, go big or go home, make or break and all those other clichés that mean drive your freakin’ ass off.

Irwindale Speedway, the House of Drift. Earlier this year we received news that Irwindale Speedway was shutting down and people began wondering what would happen with the final round of the 2012 Formula Drift Championship Series. Fortunately, the event remained on the calendar and later news confirmed that it was going to be held at Irwindale once again; and it was. This past weekend Irwindale was host to Formula Drift’s final Round 7 in 2012.
