Driver Blog Dopeness >>> Matt Field at Formula Drift Atlanta 2013

Once the car was loaded up on the rig and on its way out to Atlanta, we could finally relax for a day or so. It was a hard transition getting the car ready after Long Beach. We found things we wanted to change and improve, as well as fixing what we tore up. Our flight landed, we picked up the rental car, which was the worst smelling piece of junk I’ve ever gotten, and headed out to our hotel. We had some dinner and went to sleep. The next day was practice and we had a whole bunch of stuff to unload and set up.

V8 Supercar Dopeness >>> Me Down Under (Well, Kind Of) At The Austin 400

I want to put this out there from the beginning: I have never seen the 1990 Tom Selleck western, Quigley Down Under, which features the aforementioned actor portraying an American cowboy and sharpshooter hired by an Australian to kill off the Aborigines people from long distances. Yet, when people learn of my last name, the inquisition into whether I have viewed said film is something that usually transpires. But for this particular article about my trip to Texas to see the inaugural race of the V8 Supercars on American soil, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to place such a terrible pun in the title. Florida Dopeness >>> Florida Doesn’t Sleep During the Winter

While those in the Great White North have kept their toys locked away inside, I have been out and about around Florida enjoying the best weather of the year. With not even an ounce of snow touching the ground, there is no such thing as an off-season in the tropical south.

Grassroots Dopeness >>> NI Drift Series

Last weekend saw the start of the drift season here in Ireland with the first round of the NI Drift Series based in the North West region of Ireland. Drifting is very much confined to the southern part of the island with the Irish Drift Championship (IDC, formerly ProDrift) taking place as far north as Dublin which is probably 4 to 5 hours from the most northerly tip of the country. Now for our American readers that will sound absolutely normal but over here it just simply is not! Earlier this week I posted just a overview of my trip to the NI Drift Series which you can catch on Autolifers.com. Here we will have a quick look at how the battles panned out.
