DriftSTL closed out its 2012 season with a Drift Matsuri event at Gateway International Raceway just outside of St. Louis. The event drew nearly 50 drivers from all over the Midwest and mid-South to run on what many drivers consider one of the best regional venues for the sport.
So, where did we leave this off? Oh yeah. The event was rad. Qualifying was intense and unpredictable, and a brilliant Top 16 was the result. You can read Part I here, and when you’ve done that, make the jump!
There aren’t many events that I’ve been to where I don’t know where to begin. After covering the British Drift Championship here for two years, a change was in order. A new championship to cover, new drivers, and new events. And what an event it was! Part One begins after the jump!
A sold-out field of 40 drivers took to the Sportsdrome Speedway in Clarksville, Indiana last weekend to set the initial points bracket for the 2012 season of Formula D’s regional pro-am feeder series, the Midwest Drift Union.
I am privileged to be part of such a great team at OMGDrift, 2011 was the first year that the photos I took would be purposeful and not just for my own pleasure, not only for OMGDrift but also our friends at RivalHouseGarage. I have an an awesome year improving my skills and making many friends too, my review of 2011 is after the jump!
I met Matt Predmore back a few months ago at Hold The Line, where he ended up placing 2nd. After talking to him about his past drifting experience, I found this; it’s a pretty interesting story.
Big things are coming from Matt next season, so be sure to watch for the QuickStyle S15 in competition!
Take a look back on Christy Carpenter’s year of drifting the gorgeous Yokohama Nissan S15. This year Christy has competed in both Ireland and the UK in the JZ engined Nissan.
Christy had a fun year scoring and equaling his previous best result of 3rd in Fermoy last year with a 3rd on his home event in Ennis at ProDrift Round 1. Christy followed that up with a 2nd place to James Deane (ProDrift 2010 and Drift Allstars 2011 Champion) at Drift Allstars Birmingham.
This past weekend seen the final round of the Drift Allstars championship that has taken part all across Europe this year. The final round took place at Wembley stadium in the heart of London. This was my first time at Drift Allstars and I have to say I was really impressed with entire event. I will let OMG photog Stew Noble give you the full low down on what happened at the event as I just want to share my photos from the event!
